Stephen Lawrence (September 13, 1974 β April 22, 1993) was a black British teenager living in London, UK, who was murdered in April 1993 at the age of 18.
While waiting at a bus stop with his friend Duwayne Brooks, he was attacked by a group of young white males who on catching sight of them both; screamed; "WHAT? WHAT! NIGGER!" as they charged at him, with one pulling out a knife which was then used to stab Stephen to death. Such attacks had happened previously, but this time widespread publicity attracted national attention that threatened civil disturbances and severely damaged relations between the Afro-Caribbean community, the police and the justice system.
R.I.P Stephen. You didnt deserve to die.

At long last some justice for you and your family. What a frightening world we live in where people of my own colour could take the life of someone like my own children... just because of the colour of their skin. My heart goes out to Doreen and Neville. As parents I cannot begin to imagine what hell they have been through for the last few years. They have conducted themselves with such dignity despite being treated with so little. May justice be completed when the other three killers are convicted and sentenced.
Stephen may you rest in peace in paradise. You will be remember by many, even by those who never knew you x

Today i cried hearing the long awaited verdict, your justice came eventually and im glad to say iv been given some hope with my own 18 year old son,s murder and maybe one day il get my boy justice no matter how long them killers are free the law gets them in the end, ive always thought of you stephen and your family never thinking my own 18 year old would be stabbed by many men just like you did, sleeptight now lad and im sure them responsible will spend every minute in jail suffering just as your family have been suffering for many years...sleeptight gorgous boy now you can rest in peace a little...from lorraine.
